Welcome to my page about Cluj-Napoca. This site is devoted exclusively to this vibrant city, known to Hungarians as Kolozsvar, to the Romans and Dacians as Napoca, to the Germans as Klausenburg and to most as simply Cluj.
This site concentrates on Cluj and its surrounding areas and not on Romania as a whole. There are many fine guidebooks and websites that deal with visiting Romania. My effort is to familiarize you with this particular city, one that you will probably be visiting if you plan on traveling to Romania. I am in a distinct position to do that, because I have lived in Cluj and visited it many times. While providing pictures, advice on transportation and accommodations, I also give you details about the city you will find nowhere else. The reviews I provide are based on my personal experience, not something I pulled from a guidebook.
So whether you are only spending a day or two, or planning a more long term stay, you will find a great deal of detailed information about the city. Where else will you find out about Gogas Infuriate (angry doughnuts), vin fiert (spicy winter wine), or how to catch a shark (roaming, inexpensive “taxis”)?
Thanks for visiting,
Justin Blair
